African Explorer and Avid Wordsmith
While some people focus on one area of specialty, I’ve found great benefit in being a generalist in a wide range of subjects and skills. My creative side was first nurtured by my grandmother who taught me to sew and crochet. My love for learning and reading began with my mother’s diligent efforts to teach me to read before I even learned to speak. A natural problem solver and planner, I tackle every task with gusto to get the job done. In the developing world, this has served me well. Whether it’s building a chicken coop, designing a web site, writing a grant proposal, repairing the phone line, teaching a women’s group, fixing the Land Rover, or planting a garden; I find great joy in doing and completing a project.
